Spokes Cycles Tramore Duathlon 2010 Information & Registration


Welcome to the home page for the Spokes Tramore Duathlon 2010.

The event was held on Saturday, the 6th of March in Tramore, Co. Waterford with a 12 noon start.

The event was as always aimed at the first timers and people you just want to have fun and get fit along the way. The event distances were 3km Run/16km Cycle/3km Run.

Entry Details

The race is open to all and we are delighted to offer an inclusive price of €30 entry fee for single competitors. This entry fee entitles the competitor to;

- A top class goodie bag
- A timing chip for accurate timing of the event
- No additional charge for One Day Licence.

In addition, we will be running a relay event for 2 member teams. The cost of this will be €40 per team with each member receiving a goodie bag.

Spot Prizes!

We are delighted to offer every competitor the chance to win one of two outstanding "spot prizes". Thanks to sponsorship from bike manufacturer KUOTA we will be raffling a KUOTA KHARMA road frame(value €1,000) between all competitors. So, even if you don`t actually win the race you still may come away with the best prize.

There will also be various other spot prizes such as an excellent set of AKSIUM Race Wheels.



The Solas Centre

All proceeds for this event will go to The Solas Centre, The South Eastern Cancer Foundation is trying to raise enough money to fund and build a Cancer Support Centre-The Solas Centre, on a site on Waterford's outer ring road, close to Waterford Regional Hospital. We believe this is a very deserving charity and wish them every luck in their
future.

Registration on the Morning

Registration for the event will take place from 10:30am Sharp, and will end at 11:30. The Transition Area will be open from 9am and will be closed off at 11:30 prior to the start of the event.

The Course

A Duathlon Starts off with a run section, then a cycle section followed by a second run section.

The Run
The initial 3km stage will start at the T-Bay Surf Centre, pass up through Riverstown, along by the Majestic Hotel and back down Strand Road and the Prom.

The Cycle
The bike leg in towards Waterford to Ballindud and back will be marked out by Gardaí and marshals, with the final run following the same course as the first.

Results

This is an automatically timed event by timing chip. All results including split times will not be made publicly available until such time as the race referee has dealt with any penalty issues. Provisional results including split times will be made available after the prize giving ceremony.

We are looking for entries on Relay Teams and also for Teams of two and three from each Work Place. This works by combining the times of the competitors and averaging out the times. The fastest team will be the winner. And remember, its all for Charity!




Insurance

The race is essentially a charity race and as such is not under the auspice of Triathlon Ireland, however, it will be run under ITU guidelines in terms of organisation and operation. Please be re-assured that you will be fully protected in terms of Public Liability Insurance as we have secured our own separate insurance policy which is the equivalent to that on offer by Triathlon Ireland.
