Shimano has raised the bar with the next generation of mountain bike shifting. New XTR Rapidfire Shifters come with new shifting technologies such as Instant Release, Multi Release shifting and the new Two-Way Release technology. What does this mean?

Instant Release shifting for super fast shifting performance, delivering the chain to the next sprocket or ring the moment the shift is actuated with no hesitation
Multi Release shifting: allows multiple gear shifting from both levers with one sweep from either lever, further adding to the speed at which you can go up or down the cassette or chainset
Two-Way Release technologyallows shifting from various riding positions, the upper lever still performs the same Multi Shift function but it can now swing in either direction allowing it to be released by the thumb or index finger
Horizontally adjustable forged alloy clamp bracket allows the shifter to be mounted in or outboard of the brake lever allowing optimum set up for all riding styles
Shifter features a precision indexing drum with four sets of ball bearings providing low-friction smooth shifting
One piece alloy release levers increase durability and gives sharp precise shifts
Mega9 compatible - for use with precision 9-speed drivetrain
Pod design allows the use of these shifters with any brake lever
